The goal: National cybersecurity certification standards that cut compliance complexity and lower secure-integration costs for utility-scale and distributed assets—a crucial task as solar stands to compose 45% of US electric supply by 2050.
The bigger picture: The project also funds workforce training for engineers and grid operators managing increasingly software-dependent systems, plus a risk-assessment toolkit to guide capex on device-level security.
