Amazon backed the nuclear startup in October 2024, and X-energy completed a $700M fundraising round last fall. It hasn’t yet gotten the sign-off from the NRC to build its helium-cooled SMR, but the agency tapped X-energy to make nuclear fuel for advanced reactors at Oak Ridge.
