New York Public Service Commission Commenses Grid of the Future Proceeding by Daniel Spitzer

New York's Public Service Commission is launching a "Grid of the Future" proceeding to modernize the state's power grid, aiming to make it more reliable, affordable, and decarbonized. This initiative, driven by the need to meet aggressive greenhouse gas reduction goals, will outline new grid capabilities, investment targets, and customer benefits, with a comprehensive plan expected by the end of 2024. 

"Building upon its efforts at better aligning the State’s regulatory structure with a transforming energy market and the guiding principles first articulated in its Reforming the Energy Vision (“REV”) proceeding,[1] New York is taking new steps to support and promote the updating of the physical transmission grid and the needed adaptation of utility business models that have remained largely within a traditional monopoly provider paradigm. "
