Wind PPAs are rising faster than solar, and new tariffs could drive them even higher. (Utility Dive)
Wind PPAs jumped nearly 5% in Q3 2025, compared with 4% for solar, according to LevelTen Energy.
Since last year, wind prices are up 14%, or about $9/MWh, while solar is up $3.19/MWh. Analysts expect new Trump-era tariffs on metals and turbine components to add another 10–15% in the coming months.
Despite higher prices, analysts say PPAs are still competitive against wholesale power but warn prices are unlikely to ease soon as 1) demand from data centers and corporate buyers accelerates and 2) financing grows more expensive.
