NEWS: DOE's Wright calls offshore wind disruption a unique case

Energy Secretary Chris Wright says freezing offshore wind projects is a “one-off exception” and not a signal that the US is closing its doors to energy investment. What else? (Axios)

  • Permitting reform is priority No. 1. Wright told Axios that faster approvals are critical to the Trump administration’s “energy dominance” agenda. “We’re building big infrastructure, but that’s still much slower and clumsier than it should be.”

  • And DOE plans to test a voluntary model for nuclear storage. “Several communities … will say, ‘Absolutely we want that—for the economic benefits, for the jobs,’” Wright said.

  • While solar stays in play: Wright said solar will continue to expand, even as wind gets hamstrung. “It’s cheaper, faster to assemble…it has a role.”
