Fresh Roasted Coffee Relies on 100% Solar Renewable Energy in Connection with Local Power Grid

Fresh Roasted Coffee, located in Sunbury, Pennsylvania (PA), owns and operates an 84,000-square-foot facility with a recently installed solar panel field, providing the coffee plant with an overabundance of green energy. The solar array powers the Loring roasters, packing lines, computers, lighting, HVAC system, and more. Designed for sustainability, the new solar field generates excess power, supporting the local power grid and helping other homes and businesses in the community with their energy requirements. During Winter or cloudy weather stretches, connecting to the power grid allows Fresh Roasted Coffee to purchase extra electricity. This reliability practice has become an outstanding example to the community of commercial responsibility and Energy Industry cooperation.

Already roasting with Loring Smart Roasters, which reduced energy consumption by 80% and prevented CO2 emissions, adding 100% operational renewable solar power was the next natural step for Fresh Roasted Coffee. The project began with a fully insulated new roof and the addition of a white top coat to reflect heat off the building and bounce light back to the panels. Their cost savings for electricity charges showed a 90% improvement. As the Summer weather has heated the environment, those cost savings have increased. Fresh Roasted Coffee states, “Consumers, especially in the food and beverage world, care more than ever about where their products come from and how they're made. Investing in clean energy and high-quality ingredients now will only strengthen your business long-term.”
