  • One highlight is our joint project with German municipal utility Leipziger Stadtwerke: Together we are working on the decarbonization of energy supply. The project will demonstrate how to supply green district heating, green dispatchable electricity and green fuels by combining different technologies. Those comprise large high-temperature heat pumps, hydrogen gas turbines, solar-thermal, PV, batteries, heat storage, and a hydrogen production summing up - what is called the “Hydrogen Competence Center Leipzig”.
  • Another topic is the key role of renewables in decarbonizing industry with green hydrogen. In 2019, Siemens Energy, together with partners Verbund and Voestalpine, built a European Flagship project to decarbonize the steel industry in Linz, Austria. The results are now available.
  • We also give insights on how to cope with the constantly growing grid stability and reliability challenges. The Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and digital twin technologies can pave the way here and transmission assets need to become more intelligent.

Siemens has been a leader in green Energy for quite a while . They seem to cover all types of energy production and storage. I expect to see lots of good results from them. Energy storage is a great technology to let the Hub combine the best of each technology.

Do you think that blockchain is going to be a technology that will be a part of IoT, energy stability and supply/demand, as well as DER projects in the near future?
