NEWS: Helion breaks ground on ‘world’s first fusion power plant’

Fusion startup Helion kicked off site prep for the world’s first fusion power plant, which is slated to deliver power to Microsoft by 2028. (KUOW)

  • Backed by OpenAI’s Sam Altman and SoftBank, Helion plans to connect the Chelan County, WA, facility—fueled by magneto-inertial fusion technology—to the state’s primary grid just upstream of Microsoft’s data centers.
