Power System Dispatcher

DUTIES
The incumbent in this position is responsible for the operation of the bulk power system using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) equipment; to originate and execute safe clearance and power system switching procedures on the bulk power system; to coordinate electric system generation resources in an interconnected power system; to adhere to operating concepts, principles, and practices of interconnected system operation and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC); and for transmission real time, current day, and next day operational plans.
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE
GRADE SPECIFIC AD-03:
•At least one year of progressively responsible specialized experience as a dispatcher on a large, high voltage (100kV or above) power generating or transmission system equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service (AD-02 or equivalent). This experience must have included AT LEAST ONE of the following:
-Directing switching, operating Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) equipment OR
-Operating an interconnected automatic generation control system OR
-Initiating emergency actions to restore a 100kV (or higher) transmission system to normal.
GRADE SPECIFIC AD-04:
•At least one year of progressively responsible specialized experience as a dispatcher on a large, high voltage (100kV or above) system involved in BOTH power generating and transmission equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service (AD-3 or equivalent). This experience must have included both of the following:
-(Balancing Authority/Generation) - operating an interconnected automatic generation control system AND
-(Transmission/Switching) - directing switching, operating SCADA equipment and initiating emergency actions to restore a 100kV (or higher) transmission system to normal.
