Tri County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) seeks an exceptional leader to succeed its retiring General Manager.

TCEC is a non-for-profit rural electric distribution cooperative serving approximately 16,000 residential, agricultural, commercial, and industrial members primarily in Jefferson, Marion, and Washington counties in Illinois.  TCEC is headquartered in Mt. Vernon, IL and maintains a district office in Salem, IL. and an outpost in Nashville, IL.  With 3400 miles of electric lines, a total utility plant of $147M and total assets of $132M, the cooperative has an excellent equity ratio and a strong cash position.  TCEC employs 49 full time employees and is governed by a member-elected nine- person board of directors representing their respective districts.  TCEC purchases its wholesale power from Southern Illinois Power Cooperative, Marion, IL.  

The GM is appointed by the board of directors and serves as the top executive of the cooperative reporting directly to the board of directors.  The successful candidate will provide strong leadership, vision, team building, communication skills, advice and assistance to the board concerning industry changes, strategic planning, business objectives, and policy needs that support the cooperative’s mission and provide effective guidance for overall operations for the electric cooperative.

 Preferably the successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree; advanced degrees and certifications are a plus; and experience in the electric utility industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The General Manager is appointed by the board of directors and serves as the top executive of the cooperative and reports directly to the board.  The successful candidate will provide strong leadership, vision, team building, communication skills, advice and assistance to the board concerning industry changes, strategic planning, business objectives, and policy needs that support the cooperative's mission and provide effective guidance for overall operations of the electric cooperative.

With a full NRECA benefits package, compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Start date is approximately January 1, 2022.
