NERC's regional entity in the Northeast, NPCC, has recently published BoD approved goals for 2022 ( click the link for 2022 goals below). One very encouraging item listed in these goals includes Cybersecurity enhancements recommending that NPCC reach out to the cybersecurity experts in government agencies at DHS, CISA, etc.
III. Address Cyber and Physical Security Threats (Weighting: 25% of Total)
III-1. (15%)
GOAL:
Identification of cybersecurity protection and advanced data management requirements associated with next generation substation designs (digital substations) to enhance operational technology (OT) resilience and maximize future grid security.
THRESHOLD:
Enhance interactions with agencies (e.g., NERC E- ISAC, DHS, DOE, Natural Resources Canada, and Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement) through quarterly collaboration sessions to foster a more efficient working model for information and intelligence sharing, to identify cybersecurity threats to Operational Technology.
TARGET:
Conduct an industry workshop to provide an avenue for education and best practices sharing to support the security and resilience of Operational Technology (OT) systems -by 12/22.
It's good to see Tom O'Brien's vision for cybersecurity information sharing coming to fruition in NPCC.
