Potential cyber threats to the bulk electric power system have never been higher, posing a danger to the North American transmission grid as well as major power generation assets.
Of special concern are critical nodes such as substations that control electric power distribution to large load centers and nuclear power plants where security long has been a top priority.
This webinar brings together three thought leaders to offer an insightful and action-oriented briefing on key vulnerabilities to the bulk power system posed by cyber threats, recent Presidential Executive Order regarding grid security, the current state of cybersecurity deployment in the electric power sector, and steps that stakeholders can take to further enhance their response capability to future cyber threats.

David Wagman, Independent Journalist and Analyst
David Wagman is a Denver-based energy journalist who writes extensively for national and international publications on all forms of electric power generation, utility regulation, business models, fuels, and transmission and distribution.
Prof Massoud Amin, is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He is widely credited as being the father of the smart electric power grid, and is a cyber-physical security leader, who directed all security-related R&D for all North American utilities after the 9/11 tragedies. Dr. Amin is an IEEE and ASME Fellow whose professional contributions have focused on three areas: Defense networks, combat & logistics systems; Modernization, efficiency, security & resilience of critical infrastructures; and Technology/business/policy foresight & strategy.
Brian Romansky is Chief Technology Officer at Owl Cyber Defensewhere he is focused on shaping and executing the company's growth strategy through advanced technology development and entry into new markets. He has over 25 years' experience in security technology and innovation in automotive security, payment systems, healthcare and logistics. He formerly served as a product manager and technical expert for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s SCMS V2X initiative while at Escrypt and as Senior Director of Corporate Innovation at Pitney Bowes. He holds Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and R&D Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is an inventor on 25 US patents.
Andrew Bochman is a senior grid strategist for the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory to senior U.S. and international government and industry leaders on energy sector security challenges and candidate solution approaches. A critical infrastructure cybersecurity expert, Bochman is currently writing a book on applying engineering fundamentals to critical infrastructure cyber-challenges. Prior to joining INL, he was the Global Energy Security Lead at IBM and a Senior Advisor at the Chertoff Group in Washington, D.C. Bochman received a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a master's degree from Harvard University.
