Now, the consulting firm Grid says NERC is skewing the data. For one, this projection ignores the massive backlog of renewable projects currently waiting to connect to the grid.
NERC also assumes an unchecked 90 GW spike in data center demand, ignoring major real-world bottlenecks and AI skepticism, and discounts the emergency interstate power sharing.
