NEWS: Data centers’ share of US electricity seen doubling by 2030

Data centers are on track to devour up to 17% of all US electricity by 2030, according to a new EPRI report. (E&E News)

  • That’s a big leap from today’s 4.5% and a staggering 60% higher than estimates from just two years ago.

  • The power grab isn’t spread evenly. In the data center capital of Virginia, AI and cloud facilities could suck up 59% of the state’s total electricity by decade’s end.
