The city will activate a pilot for the voter-approved Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU) this year, deploying city-owned solar + storage systems directly to participating homes and businesses.
The model: Instead of a costly takeover of the existing grid, this opt-in system builds a parallel, 100% renewable network—allowing the city to cut emissions and bills without buying out DTE’s poles and wires.
