New data centers are leaving Nebraska’s grid infrastructure in peril, according to a new report from ScottMadden. (Silicon Prairie News)
While Nebraska already has some of the cheapest and most reliable electricity in the country—in large part due to its large concentration of wind energy—spiking electricity demand and SPP’s lengthy interconnection queue could make it hard to keep the lights on.
To note: Nebraska’s industrial users account for 45% of total energy consumption. That load is expected to jump by hundreds of megawatts as new companies connect.
