I've been reading an almost recurring analysis about the predominant characteristics of the leadership of the most important companies and institutions around the world.
It states that, initially, the main profile trait of top executives was "technical." They were notably engineers. In a second phase, the "era" of lawyers emerged, taking over. And currently, it's politicians who are taking charge!
And... in Brazil, I witnessed this reality (politicians) when I consulted for companies in the industrial district of Manaus, regarding energy. I was informed that, in fact, there were two "presidents/CEOs." One "operational" and the other "political" to deal with public agencies and institutions, especially regarding tax issues, which are extremely important in terms of value.
In concrete terms, there is a new world, in which references have ceased to be primarily based on technical and cost-based meritocracy and have become focused on subsidies and other perks. Does this new model have a realistic chance of creating an environment of prosperity?
