With more than 45K federal workers in Massachusetts missing paychecks during the federal shutdown, Rep. Ayanna Pressley is asking Eversource and National Grid to halt service shutoffs and waive fees or deposits for affected families. (Mass Live)
Both utilities said they’re monitoring the situation and will work with customers individually to delay payments or prevent shutoffs. National Grid confirmed that accounts on hold due to the shutdown “will not be turned off.”
The plea aligns with a broader Democratic push to shield federal employees from eviction, foreclosure, and credit penalties as the budget standoff continues.
