  • A new AARP study reveals that 1.3M New Yorkers are 2+ months behind on their energy bills, leading to 400K disconnections last year.

  • It’s a triple whammy of costs: Wholesale electric prices jumped from $41.81 to $74.40 per MWh last year as natural gas prices doubled, while temperatures have dropped 15–20% in recent months compared to last winter. On top of that, National Grid’s new rate plan added another 10% to bills to cover infrastructure upgrades.
