Winter storms Uri and Elliott have raised awareness of the vitally important inter-dependencies between Natural Gas and Electricity. This is especially true in New England. This article from Xcel Energy is insightful for its focus on addressing these inter-dependencies (Read More below).

This statement says it all, if we want a reliable electric grid:

There has to be a close connection between planning and integrated operations. They are going to have to come back and give us feedback and say hey that grid forming inverter didn’t do what we thought so we have to modify the design.... This is why combining standards and planning is important."
