Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is under fire for not prioritizing energy conservation and efficiency. One area of concern is their commitment, or lack of, to energy efficiency. The utility reduced its energy efficiency programs by nearly two-thirds between 2014 and 2018. More recently, TVA completely cut customer energy efficiency incentive programs. The utility has yet to align its long-term planning with the Biden administration’s goal to achieve a carbon-free electricity sector by 2035. Have TVA’s plans failed or have they failed to plan?
