Call for Articles: Innovation In the Power Industry 2023 - [Energy Central Special Issue Series]

The word Innovation has been elevated beyond a buzzword or a nice-to-have idea and is now a core principle guiding the utility business. Leaders in the power industry sector have no shortage of challenges facing them, and these are fundamental and existential problems to address: decarbonizing generation, the ever-growing power load expected from customers, the integration of rapidly advancing intelligent technologies, the need to prioritize cybersecurity, the shift towards distributed generation, and so much more.

Integrating these new opportunities and requirements-- whether the pressure to do so comes from regulators, customers, investors, or otherwise-- necessitates an attitude and a culture of innovation. But talking about innovation is very different from embracing it, and that true embrace of innovation is what Energy Central's May/June 2023 Special Issue Edition is all about Innovation in the Power Industry .

In addition to recognizing a few select Leaders of Innovation as part of this special issue series, we want to hear from you! We are seeking stories, white papers, and case studies from our community for this Special Issue Edition.

Our Special Issues present a unique opportunity for you to share your experiences with peers in the industry and perhaps even help kickstart conversations that help you and others uncover new potential solutions and opportunities.

Below are a few topic prompt ideas to get you started:

  • How do you ensure innovation can cross departments within the utility and not get caught in siloed inertia?
  • What innovative technologies and programs are you looking to roll out through the rest of 2023?
  • How does the regulatory environment benefit or hinder your desired innovation processes?
  • What lessons learned have come from the implementation of your recent past innovation successes?
  • What are some of the unexpected benefits or consequences of embracing new technologies, opportunities, and more

With your submission to the May/June 2023 Special Issue on 'Innovation in the Power Industry,' we invite you to consider the list of topics and topic prompts above and participate in the group knowledge-sharing and brainstorming process only available via the Energy Central Community.
