On Demand - Maximizing the Value of Utility Data to Drive Clean Energy Initiatives [an Energy Central PowerSession™]

Access On-Demand Recording Below:

The clean energy transition continues to show strong momentum across all sectors of the economy as federal, state, and local governments set lofty clean energy and decarbonization targets. At the heart of these targets are energy service providers and their ability to collect troves of data on when, where, and how customers are using energy. Leveraging and maximizing the value of this data to make better informed operational and investment decisions is key for all stakeholders as they carve out their own role helping work toward a cleaner energy future.

As an increasing number of utility regulatory commissions are ruling on access to utility data, several states are examining the implications of making this data more accessible to customers and third parties. Select states are going further and broadening the data pool to include more than just customer-metered end-use data. Each state will define the types of data to be made available and the role utilities and third parties can serve to influence customer behavior.

Proponents of democratizing data believe it will empower and motivate customers to make better informed energy decisions and spur additional market innovations in energy efficiency, demand response, and fuel switching leading to a cleaner energy economy.

In this on-demand webinar the panelists discuss:

  • What is democratizing data and how are/can utilities, regulators, and commercial entities leveraging it to accelerate the clean energy transition
  • How to define and build a framework for modern data platforms
  • What technologies are available and how utilities are leveraging them for better data collection, management, and reporting
  • How data can help empower greater customer choice and drive cleaner energy initiatives
