Call for Articles - The Grid: Reliability & Resilience - [Energy Central Special Issue Series]

Whether you're looking at the Energy Central Community or watching the headlines of your local newspaper, you're undoubtedly seeing grid reliability and resiliency as highly discussed topics.

  • Major weather events (e.g., hurricanes) and natural disasters (e.g., wildfires) have raised the concern for hardening the grid.
  • The rise of digitalization has offered new opportunities for a smarter grid, but with that, it has also brought about new challenges in terms of cybersecurity.
  • The push for the electrification of transportation has brought about its own challenges.
  • Increased development of power generation sources like solar, wind, and battery storage requires us to focus on building and modernizing a new grid to support bi-directional flow of power.

All of this is happening against the backdrop of a clean energy transition where debate continues around the best way to decarbonize energy without sacrificing reliability and resiliency.

As the premiere online community for utility professionals, we want to bring the best and brightest minds together to share their successes, lessons learned, and plans for the future of the grid. Thus, we are asking for the community to share their insights for our upcoming October Special Issue:  "The Grid: Reliability & Resiliency."

For this issue, we want to hear from you! We are seeking stories, white papers, and case studies from our community for this Special Issue Edition. We are especially looking for insights on the following topics: Underground vs. Overhead, Outage Management, Vegetation Management, Drones, Extreme Events Management, Wildfires & Storms, and any other related topics.
