Why electrify? Climate concerns, air quality and energy conservation are driving a global push for electrification. Transportation, EV charging and grid capacity are hot topics sweeping industry headlines. Utilities are expanding their business models to include transportation and EV charging on a large scale. The EV space is growing and a pivotal point in the EV revolution is here. Rapid adoption is vital to prepare the grid for greater demand. Despite some limitations in various service areas, EV charging, its makeup, operations, and the maintenance it required for the grid, is creating more change than the utility sector has experienced since its inception. Grid operators are rethinking power and transmission for the added load created by residential and commercial utility ratepayers.
Electrification of transportation could soon the standard. How is it impacting the industry as a whole and what viewpoints would you like to voice?
To help foster these critical and forward-thinking conversations, the Energy Central team is focusing on "Electrification of Transportation & Its Impact on Utilities" for our July/August 2023 Special Issue.
