Have you ever had a deadline for getting a term paper or any other document written and submitted? Also, at the same time, you can't think of a thing about which to write!

Well, that's what has happened to me this week. However, the TV came to my rescue last Friday.

While watching FOX 35 News, there was a person being interviewed who I recognized. It was our own Jack Linsky! Ocala doesn't often make the news, so this was a treat! I spoke with Jack after the program ended and told him it was nice to have a "celebrity" in Quail Meadow.

Jack, like many of us, is upset with the huge increase in our Ocala Electric Company bill! Many of us have had our bills doubled from last year at this same time of the year.

Jack was not able to get satisfaction on the cause of the increase, so he went to FOX 35 for help! Jack was able to get an explanation for the increase: according to the electric company, they have had a very large increase in the cost of the natural gas which is used to power the system. With the cost of the gas going so high, according to the electric company, they had no choice but to increase what we customers are charged.

The power company says they are going to review their costs again in September, and will possibly lower our bills (don't hold your breath). We wish to give a big thank you to Jack Linsky for making the electric company, and all of Central Florida, aware of the problem.

By the way, Jack keeps records on the electric bills, so he was able to look back for several years and compare the costs.

Don't forget to vote! The voting polls will open on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 7 a.m. The voting location for Quail Meadow residents is Sweetwater Oaks Clubhouse.

Remember the school year began last week, so watch for children and school buses. We don't have them in our neighborhood, but they are on the main street we use to get to various shops and restaurants.

August is a quiet month as far as the events at the clubhouse – no QMPOA meeting, no social event or committee meeting.
