Michika, Madagali reconnected to grid

The Nation

Michika and Madagali local government areas of Adamawa State have been reconnected to the national power grid after years without electricity following destructive activities by insurgents.

The reconnection was effected after Governor

Ahmadu Fintiri inaugurated the rehabilitated power sub-station for Michika and Madagali local government areas, on which ¦ 283.8m was expended.

The two councils in the northern part of Adamawa State ceased to have electricity after Boko Haram insurgents damaged power lines and installations, severing power supply from the national grid six years ago.

Insurgency attacks in the councils peaked in 2014 when along with five other councils were seized and occupied by the insurgents.

The councils continued to suffer occasional attacks after the liberation of the seven councils months later had remained without electricity.
