Wind energy is going nowhere in California until developers can prove it will not interfere with the migration routes of several baleen whales, including the Humpback, the California Gray, and the Blue whale.

Evidence provided by NOAA suggests Block Island Wind Farm, off the coast of Rhode Island, may be killing humpbacks and North Atlantic right whales - and the proposed site of Morro Bay Wind Farm, a 399 mi2

tract off California's central coast, is in the middle of a Blue whale feeding ground:

The platforms planned for Morro Bay are square and 135 feet on each side. They rise 35 ft out of the water, and extend down into the water 140 ft.

Blue whales are an average of 95 ft. long, weigh >150 tons, and have limited forward vision. A direct collision with a platform would certainly be fatal.
