The Act on the Digitization of the Energy Transition (GDEW) has set a binding legal framework for the gradual modernization of the energy system. this stipulates the use of the smart meter gateway (smgw) as a secure and standardized communication unit for data exchange. the gdew aims for a broad and cross-sectoral application of the smgw. the use of the smgw should extend to the areas of smart metering, smart grid, smart mobility, smart home and smart services. the areas of smart grid and smart mobility are increasingly coming into focus due to increasing electrification of the consumption side. an increased demand for electric cars and heat pumps combined with greater decentralization of generation and storage through pv systems and home storage poses new challenges for the energy system. at the same time, there is a potential for flexibility that can be used to advantage on the consumer, market and network side. flexibility will develop into an important parameter of the future energy system. the smgw can act as a key technology in a digitized energy system, since using the tariff application cases (taf) basically gives the possibility to react to changing network and market situations. In addition, consumers can be motivated by incentives to a certain consumption behavior. the basis for applications that depict a network or market-oriented application is the transmission of measurement data from the smgw to external market participants (emt) and usually also the control of flexible consumption units via the cls channel. the overriding objective of this pilot project is to demonstrate added value that can be created through the use and establishment of an smgw infrastructure. as the central communication units of a digitized energy system, smgw should ensure that data is exchanged securely and standardized and that control signals can also be received and processed via the smgw infrastructure. the pilot project is intended to demonstrate how flexibility in the form of small-scale controllable loads (e.g. e-mobile/charging infrastructure, stationary batteries, heat pumps, etc.) can be used, including the smgw infrastructure, to provide grid-friendly services that also offer end customers added value. the grid services can represent use cases for distribution grid operators (e.g. interventions within the framework of grid congestion management) or transmission grid operators (e.g. retrieval of control power). Furthermore, the use case of flexible tariffs can also be mapped if the network perspective is taken into account at the same time. in general, the piloting should contribute to increasing the acceptance of the use of smgw by end consumers by implementing energy-related applications that can generate added value on the consumer side.In the first step, the precise implementation Major organization : DEUTSCHE ENERGIE-AGENTUR GMBH
