Joshua Timm

Hi, I'm Joshua Timm, the Founder & Principal of Power Transformations. At my core, I'm a passionate teacher & mentor who makes complex things simple. Having worked in the electric power industry as a Protection & Control Engineer for 15 years, the most rewarding part of my career has been the investments I have been able to make into others growth & development, whether colleagues or clients. I love to train on the technically complex subjects of the P&C field, but also to mentor others in career development, especially with junior P&C Engineers. Many of my former mentees are today technical project leads, PM's, supervisors and managers, and I'm blessed to also call them my friends.

I have had an accomplished career, succeeding as a technical expert in my P&C niche, as well as climbing to an executive management role through the companies I have been privileged to work with. My diverse work experiences have included working for an electric utility, a relay manufacturer, and as a consultant. I have grown an expertise within both the automation and protection realms, applied with experiences in transmission, distribution, and industrial power systems. I'm thankful to have had opportunities to develop P&C Standards for various clients to help them apply industry best practices and incorporate the latest microprocessor relay technologies to their systems. I have been a licensed Professional Engineer since 2013.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife and 3 young children. I also enjoy woodworking, biking, hiking, and reading. Our family resides in the Charleston, SC area.
