Since July 2021, Dr. Holger Wolfschmidt has been Senior Portfolio Manager for Storage within Siemens Energy. His main tasks are to oversee the portfolio, the market, and the storage technologies available now and in future. Matching these conditions and the requirements from the market with the description and creation of applications will result in use cases and commercial business cases for large stationary storage solutions.

Dr. Holger Wolfschmidt previously lead Market Applications within Fluence Energy for EMEA region as Director for 3.5 years. The focus was on new applications for stationary energy storage solutions within EMEA, working on regulatory barriers and driving storage as a flexibility asset to the next level. The combination of industrial exchange, stakeholder integration, association work and political discussions was the main driver for successful implementation of new technologies and applications for stationary storage.

Prior to joining Fluence, Dr. Wolfschmidt worked 7 years for Siemens as Senior Key Expert with a focus on electrochemical energy storage systems in the Corporate Units and as Product Portfolio Manager for Storage Solutions. During this professional career, more than 110 patent applications in a broad range of storage technologies were filed. Dr. Holger's professional education was at Technical University Munich, passing state examinations in Mathematics and Physics and earning a Master of Science in Engineering Physics and a PhD in Physical Chemistry with an academic output of 16 peer-reviewed journal papers and a book contribution.
