BRANDON N. OWENS is a technology innovation specialist with domain expertise in energy markets, technologies, and policies. He is well-versed in corporate strategy & communications, digital transformation, and data and analytics. His research has been published in industry journals such as Informs, Public Utilities Fortnightly, Energy Policy, REFocus, Research Evaluation, & Renewable Energy World. A keynote speaker and expert witness, Owens has been widely cited and has provided expert advice to governments, research organizations, energy consultancies, and global energy corporations. Mr. Owens is currently the Director of Global Market Development for GE Power Digital where he crafts commercial strategy for GE's portfolio of digital products. Prior to joining GE in 2007, Mr. Owens was a Director of Global Power Research at Cambridge Energy Research Associates (IHS CERA). Earlier in his career, he served as an analyst for the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Brandon is the author of numerous articles and reports, including, Reimagining Our Electricity Future (2017), which provides a vision for the future of electricity. His new report, The Digital Energy Transformation (2018) presents GE Power Digital’s strategy for thriving in an increasingly digitized energy landscape. His forthcoming book, The Wind Power Story (2019, Wiley & Sons), charts the history of wind power from the nineteenth century through the twenty-first century and provides insights for wind power’s future. Brandon is also proficient in a range of IT tools, technologies, and techniques including Python, R, Tableau and SQL. He has developed a portfolio of energy and environmental models throughout his career. Mr. Owens holds an MS in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and a BA degree in Economics & Mathematics from the University of Colorado.
