Dr. Mullen-Trento is the Strategic Issues Lead in the Technology Innovation (TI) program at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), she originally joined EPRI in 2007. Dr. Mullen-Trento coordinates thought leadership activities within the TI program, facilitating internal collaboration and development of publicly available white papers and briefs for cross-cutting, strategic research areas.

Dr. Mullen-Trento provides technical leadership in spaces related to the integration of distributed energy resources and bulk energy systems, including energy utilization impacts modeling and demand-side benefit-cost analyses. She is coordinating a 2020 Value of Resilience Interest Group, bringing together researchers, system operators and planners, and public stakeholders globally to support transparent and efficient investments in resilience solutions for maintaining health and well-being during extended power outages.

Dr. Mullen-Trento received the Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree, and Master’s and doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering (power systems emphasis) from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2003, 2006, and 2009, respectively. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the use of distributed storage to support grid reliability and is titled Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles as a Source of Distributed Frequency Regulation.
