Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Plant Management group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a TREAT Operations Support Manager.
Our team works a hybrid 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking candidates for an Operations Support Manager reporting to the Transient Reactor Test (TREAT) Facility Plant Manager. The Transient Test Reactor is a reactor capable of controlled prompt critical operations, reaching power levels of 18,000 MW. If you want to be part of enabling nuclear energy research and development, including deployment of next generation nuclear reactors then this position is for you.
INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the United States Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel design, development and fabrication, and post-irradiation analysis. MFC plays a pivotal role in supporting the National Reactor Innovation Center, which provides resources for testing, demonstration, and performance assessment to accelerate the deployment of new, advanced nuclear technology concepts.
This position is responsible for all support functions needed for safe and efficient operations. Key functions of the position are:
  • Responsible for ensuring all facility training is conducted to the highest standards and in accordance with DOE orders
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of facility procedures to ensure efficient and compliant execution
  • Responsible for execution of the Contractor Assurance System including the management of corrective actions and assessments
  • Responsible for the preparation and execution of facility readiness activities including readiness screenings, Plans of Action, assessments and finding resolutions
  • Responsible for the scheduling of work and experiment activities within the facility to maximize safety and efficiency
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of metrics to monitor facility performance
  • Responsible for all aspects of human capital management, including attracting diverse talent, creating an inclusive culture, providing professional developmental opportunities, managing personnel performance and rewarding/recognizing employees
  • Responsible for implementing all aspects of the MFC Management model including organizing, planning, staffing, leading and assessing/improving


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and six years relevant experience in a nuclear environment (commercial, Navy or Laboratory)
  • Recent (within last 5 years) Senior Reactor Operator or Reactor Operator qualification (US Navy, NRC License, or DOE certification) at a nuclear reactor
  • Must have the ability and willingness to become a qualified Nuclear Facility Manager
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Radiation Worker II qualification
  • Demonstrate ability to make sound judgment decisions through previous work assignments
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship
Preferred Requirements:
  • Complete and maintain all certification requirements for nuclear area facility manager including supervisory skills training, comprehensive written examination, facility walk through exams and oral boards.
  • Must have a proven track record of integrity, demonstrated strong work ethic, customer service mentality, and technical skills for the position
Job Information:
  • Salary Grade 230 ($121,212 - $206,232)
