Position Summary

Responsible for managing the activities of the NSP, PSCo, and SPS regions for the following programs: Transmission apprentice and journeyman training, Crane, CDL, designer planner technical, and Energy supply engineering training. Assuring training is used as a strategic tool to provide highly skilled and knowledgeable staff for safe, reliable, cost-effective operations and to support performance improvement. Ensures initial and continuing training is in compliance within the constraints of applicable regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, evaluate and administer a portfolio of technical training strategies and programs that meet regulatory requirements and produce desired business results through effective program management.
  • Partner with business area leadership to optimize effective technical training program strategies for all business area capital and O&M projects. Set expectations and goals with the business areas in fostering an environment where training is an integral part of the business. Understand customers, industry dynamics and regulatory environment to effectively prioritize strategic direction.
  • Lead and set priorities through business area teams for maximum efficiency in the implementation of policies, programs and initiatives that meet business area objectives and regulatory compliance. Design and develop skills enhancement strategies and practices to support continuous improvement of field staff necessary to meet/exceed business and organizational goals and successfully meet industry and competitive challenges.
  • Provide guidance, technical expertise and counsel to business area leadership in dealing with federal, state and local regulatory training updates and requirements. Partner with Operations in responding to training requests. Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors, contractors and consultants.
  • Responsible for hiring, managing and maintaining an effective team of professionals. Attract, recruit and retain a highly motivated technical staff. Develop and communicate clear performance expectations at a team and individual level.
  • Manage budgetary responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in, education, business or related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eight years of utility experience or related industrial environment, combined with five years demonstrated management experience.
  • Project management, process improvement, negotiation, strategic implementation, team leadership and facilitation experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and rapidly changing business environment, customer focus, strong communication skills and in-depth knowledge of industry regulations.
  • Certifications preferred.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $100,000 to $142,000 per year
