This position will be responsible for providing leadership to a group of designers and technicians that manage drawing revisions, document administration, database maintenance and design package administration. This supervisor will also be responsible for overseeing development and maintenance of standards applicable to transmission substations.

  • Coaches, mentors and evaluates employees to develop individual staff members and inspire high team performance.
  • Meets regularly with staff to coordinate document control, drafting and substation design work tasks.
  • Works closely with other departments of the company to ensure needs of the business are being met.
  • Initiates and facilitates process improvement and other Company initiatives into the processes governing creation, revision, and maintenance of substation drawings.
  • Ensures that substation design department processes and distributes records in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the processing of substation field marked prints and as built drawings.
  • Oversees the use and implementation of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) software.
  • Administers the ProjectWise application as the engineering document management system.
  • Ensures that substation design documentation conforms to company standards and is accurate and complete.
  • Oversees the strategy, development and maintenance of substation design engineering standards.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to guide the development and implementation of standards for equipment, material, design, and construction requirements.
  • Prepares, reviews and publishes standards documentation including; specifications, guidelines, reports, procedures, drawings and training manuals.
  • Disseminates standards information to stakeholders to ensure standards are effectively communicated and applied consistently throughout the company.
  • Acts as chairperson of a cross-functional standards committee and facilitates meetings regularly.
  • Oversees cost estimate improvement activities and maintains cost estimate tools.
  • Routinely travels to satellite ITC office locations to visit staff and engage in standards activities.
  • Manages consultant engineering support services.
  • Actively participates in industry forums, conferences and other Company initiatives.
  • Interviews and evaluates candidates for employment.
  • Approves employee timesheets, expense statements and office leave requests.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving vendor invoices ensuring accuracy.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of directly related electric utility engineering experience.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership and motivational skills, including; mentoring, coaching and developing co-workers and/or subordinates in a team oriented environment.
  • Demonstrates expertise in design, construction or maintenance of electric facilities.
  • Possess sound analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize data and resources; plan and manage tasks; and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and visual communications.
  • Experience in leading schedule driven, cross functional teams to manage projects.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Travel is required.
