Job Brief

Interfaces with engineers, supervisors, and managers to coordinate engineering drafting presentation requirements of design practices to meet engineering and quality standards. Supports ongoing use and development of computer graphics productivity tools, including hardware, software and training. Develops and provides technical instruction and production support to improve departmental efforts and performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the development and/or implementation of technologies to improve engineering design and drafting production work.
• Coordinates and interfaces with various departments to implement enterprise applications (ECM, SharePoint, Bentley Products, etc.).
• Administers and maintains Information management processes and procedures.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of various training programs of engineering and drafting practices and procedures.
• Acts as project leader or coordinator to create improvement, implementation and maintenance of engineering design standards, user production support and instructional efforts.
• Applies knowledge, skills and experience to one or more engineering or drafting disciplines as assigned, and remains technically knowledgeable of engineering and drafting technology and related applications.
• Responsible for production work and performs duties of higher job classifications within the department as required or designated.
• Works with tact and diplomacy with other departments, divisions and outside agencies to develop the highest quality of engineering design and drafting quality possible in an economic and productive manner.

Education

Minimum of 15 college credits (100+) from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

7 years as a drafting technician with a thorough knowledge and understanding of drafting standards, practices, and various computer graphic systems and software. Familiarity with SRP standards and practices through attainment of senior level drafter status under the progressionary requirements for paraprofessional salaried jobs.

Additional Information

• Specific knowledge of civil, structural and or water systems design concepts and drafting practices.
• Specific knowledge of various computer system and software as it relates to engineering and design.
• Ability to analyze problems and determine type of assistance required and/or procedures to be following in order to solve them.
• Ability to delegate tasks to qualified personnel in such a manner as to get them completed efficiently and cost effectively.
• Ability to write technical procedures which clearly define specific functions and obtain specific understanding of their needs and requests.
• Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement application specific communication and training materials rapidly as needed.
• Proficient with Bentley (MicroStation / ProjectWise), Adobe and Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to understand basic computer programming concepts in support of departmental tools and needs.

Specific Departmental Needs:
- Update and creation of guidelines, manuals, standards and specifications
- Drafting tools lead for versioning, updating of custom tools, coordination with consultants and internal experts
- Information Custodian and CSR (Computer Security Representative)
- Internal Business Process Support
- Support for other software/platform implementation efforts
- Other tasks as assigned
