Given the financial nature of this position, this position has been defined as a position requiring a credit check. Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a credit background check.

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, applies generally accepted financial and business principles to the analysis of financial, audit, and other types of information within the CFO organization. Prepares management summaries, reviews, and updates based on the results of the analysis conducted. Make recommendations to management on problems identified in the analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Compiles and analyzes complex information and reports for Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable personnel, budget department personnel, Audit department personnel, or the Treasury department. Updates and maintains documentation on department compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act, and works with audit personnel to review SOX control documentation for accuracy

Assists management in reviewing performance of key departmental metrics, and provides input to recommendations for improvement, where needed

Serves as department resource for PeopleSoft project and other major system improvement or replacement projects, as well as mergers and/or acquisitions

Acts as the lead tester for system patches, upgrades and fixes

Reviews existing procedures and processes within assigned department

Documents existing and develops new procedures and processes, and communicates them to the appropriate department personnel

Makes recommendations for improvements to current processes and procedures

Provides assistance on more complex special projects, mergers or acquisitions, and other types of special assignments, as directed

COMPETENCIES:

Ability to work with financial systems

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED with five to seven years of experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read and write in English

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to review financial and other business data, and to summarize that information for management (orally or in writing).

DECISION-MAKING:

The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to schedule their work, set priorities, and to recommend courses of action.

Ability to make changes to reports and make decisions to solve internal issues or problems.

SCOPE AND IMPACT:

Although this job has no direct financial impact to PNM's bottom line and does not directly manage a budget, depending on the CFO department in which the incumbent works the job may play a key role in the monthly close process or the A/P, P/R process, or other department processes. Must ensure the accuracy of information, update company systems, and bring problems to resolution or the attention of their supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires the use of fine dexterity to perform computer functions.
