Job Summary and Essential Functions

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO's System and Resource Planning department invites applications for a full-time Senior Project Manager - Interconnection Projects.

The Senior Project Manager will fulfill leadership and coordination roles with accountability for achieving successful results for proposed interconnection projects. This individual will direct the work of interconnection project team members, monitor close adherence to the interconnection project schedules, effectively use project management principles, oversee day-to-day project activities of proposed interconnection projects, provide timely reporting of proposed interconnection project status and budget and interact regularly with employees within the group, in other groups, senior management, developers, consultants, and connecting transmission owners.

The Senior Project Manager must be a self-motivated professional who displays effective leadership in a team based environment and have considerable experience working in a dynamic changing environment, with a proven commitment to providing value-based client service and the ability to anticipate and address client needs. This individual should display a clear understanding of the client's organization and decision-making styles and process and have experience in managing multiple competing priorities, use of good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills and a thorough knowledge and experience with interconnection project life cycle methodology along with extensive vendor management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS, preferred) in Engineering, Electrical, or related technical field;
  • 7 years related experience (preferably in utility industry) of demonstrated success in managing large complex projects, project development life-cycle processes and practical experience creating, monitoring and maintaining technical project plans in a multi-project environment ; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion of Green Belt course work or Project Management Professional® (PMP) certification as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) is desirable.
