Job Summary and Essential Functions

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO's Market Mitigation and Analysis department invites applications for a full-time Senior Performance Monitoring & Compliance Engineer.

The Senior P erformance Monitoring & Compliance Engineer will p erform on-site audits and engineering studies to monitor and analyze generator performance in New York State energy markets to identify and mitigate potential problems and report internally and externally. This individual will also support Operations departments by reviewing generator data and validating data for performance in NYISO markets as well as Market Mitigation & Analysis (MMA) units with evaluating and analyzing generator performance and trends, efficiency and competitiveness through studies and periodic reporting. This individual will also be conducting due diligence on power plant cost, operation and revenue data.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Power Systems Engineering required.
  • A minimum of seven years related industry experience in plant operations, performance tracking, and/or power plant engineering with mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Experience conducting engineering studies, failure analyses, familiarity with GADS and environmental impacts, such as permits and emissions, is desirable.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
