Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Quality Procurement & Construction group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Quality Engineer! Our team works a hybrid 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
Responsibilities Include:
- Function as an INL Quality Program ambassador and guide INL's quality program implementation for assigned work areas.
- Provide Quality Engineering support for INL to ensure compliance with DOE, Laboratory, and customer specific requirements applicable to Quality Assurance Program.
- Function as a Quality Engineer (QE) to generally support the function of Procurement including catalog set-up, review and approval of requisitions, oversight, and other assignments in the INL Quality Assurance organization.
- Guideline management and facility/project personnel of requirements and provide solutions to quality compliance and implementation processes.
- Perform direct observations of quality affecting work performance activities.
- Develop quality inspection plans, embedding required quality requirements.
- Assist in defining and developing appropriate quality requirements for procurements.
- Perform surveillances, audits, and assessments, as assigned, to determine compliance with and implementation of company processes.
- Ensure quality program weaknesses and areas for process improvement are properly identified and resolved using the INL Issues Management process.
- Mentor peers and engineers in developing, implementing, and maintaining INL quality program requirements.
- Perform as a quality program area technical point of contact and/or domain expert, as assigned by management. Maintain required training as per Individual Training Plan (ITP).
- Assist in maintaining and updating the Master Material Catalog.
- Resolve discrepancies in material descriptions and ordering data with the requestor.
- Review and approve quality significant material request containing Catalog ID's and incorporate minimum quality requirements into procurements.
- Conduct independent QA assessments, management assessments, and surveillances with peers and management to ensure that facility/program/project activities and related documentation maintain consistency.
- Review and approve Purchase Orders and Contracts, ensuring lab-wide and facility-specific clauses are incorporated into procurement documents.
- Partner with customers to provide procurement strategies in accordance with procurement and engineering procedures.
- Develop inspection planning and material control documents in partnership with technical authorities.
- Provide direction and guidance to receipt inspectors.
- Maintain proficiency and required training and qualification for quality engineering functions and responsibilities and participate in professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 2: Associates degree and 6 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree and 2 years relevant experience, Masters and 1 year of relevant experience, or a PhD. 10 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Level 3: Associates degree and 9 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience, Masters and 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD and 2 years of relevant experience. 13 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, the following: Work experience as a Quality Manager (QA or QC), Quality Inspector, Quality Engineer, or Document Control Coordinator in an NQA-1 fabrication facility.
- Must have experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system and/or verifiable catalog management experience.
- Must possess knowledge of quality requirements, specifications, and regulations.
- Must have a good understanding and knowledge of quality concepts and practices, be familiar with codes and standards such as ASTM, SAE, ASME NQA-1 and ISO-9001, and regulations as they apply to various types of projects or work activities.
- INL Quality Engineer qualification (must be able to achieve qualification within first 12 months of assignment).
- Core proficiencies for this position are communication, problem solving, adaptability, judgment, collaboration, and decision making.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain site-specific and facility-specific qualifications.
- Experience with Asset Suite with an understanding of the Master Material Catalog.
- INL Basic Inspector.
- Salary Grade 190 ($70,680 - $116,616) / Salary Grade 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)
