Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Quality Procurement and Construction group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Quality Engineer! This team works a hybrid 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
Responsibilities Include:
- Function as a Quality Engineer (QE) to support multiple programs/projects and perform oversight and mentoring of technical staff.
- Review and approve procurement documents and assist in applying appropriate Quality criteria. Develop Quality inspection requirements.
- Assist Programs/Projects/Facilities in identifying and developing appropriate quality requirements.
- Perform quality-verifying activities to assess compliance and implementation.
- Support the effort to implement and assure quality requirements and initiatives while supporting programs/projects.
- Establish priorities and work with different levels of management within the company and other departments.
- Assure compliance with company, corporate, and DOE quality requirements.
- Review various company documents, requisitions, and design documents for compliance with established QA requirements.
- Develop and continuously improve QA plans and procedures.
- Provide improvement suggestions on INL quality-related documents.
- Work with and provide quality-related training to technical personnel and management, Quality Engineers, QA Technicians, and technical staff.
- Interface with external customers and participants in quality-related matters.
- Review engineering, work planning, operation and maintenance instructions, and procurement documents
- Provide recommendations for solutions to quality compliance and implementation issues.
- Determine appropriate inspection hold points in processes and procedures and prepare inspection plans.
- Issue and track nonconformance and other deficiency reports through closure
- Lead all aspects of configuration and records management activities for S&T activities.
- Verify operations or inspections as called out in procedures and work control plans.
- Perform general verification for equipment and materials.
- Perform surveillance and assessment of related operations and quality-related matters.
- Maintain proficiency and required training and qualification for quality engineering functions and responsibilities and participate in professional development activities.
- Conduct independent QA assessments, management assessments and surveillances with peers and management to ensure that facility/program/project activities and related documentation maintain consistency.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 2: Associates degree and 6 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree and 2 years relevant experience, Masters and 1 year of relevant experience, or a PhD. 10 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Level 3: Associates degree and 9 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience, Masters and 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD and 2 years of relevant experience. 13 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, the following: Work experience as a Quality Manager (QA or QC), Quality Inspector, Quality Engineer, or Document Control Coordinator in an NQA-1 fabrication facility.
- Must have a good understanding and knowledge of quality concepts and practices, be thoroughly familiar with codes and standards such as ASME NQA-1, and regulations as they apply to various types of projects or work activities.
- Must be able to qualify as a Quality Engineer.
- Must possess a working knowledge of all relevant quality and calibration requirements, specifications, systems, rules, and regulations for the company.
- Must be able to effectively work with INL and DOE personnel.
- Must be an effective communicator.
- Must have excellent oral and written presentation skills.
- Core proficiencies for this position are communication, problem solving, adaptability, judgment, collaboration, leadership, and decision making.
- Preferred Requirements: familiar with and ability to navigate through Asset Suite.
- Salary Grade 190 ($70,680 - $116,616) / Salary Grade 210 ($93,492 - $154,212)
