JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY: 

Coordinates with the Company's Business Units to determine the mission critical projects and offer support to facilitate the project's infrastructure, documentation, execution, and evaluation in such a way to provide assistance to the Business Units and/or Project Managers, which enables proper management of the project's performance, cost, and schedule criteria.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establishes and maintains the necessary processes and resources (internal and external) for the Project Management Office (PMO) to maintain a focus that has the highest return in customer value

Maintains project standards (process, tools, software, templates), portfolio standards (process, tools, software, templates), consulting services (problem solving, mentoring, evaluations, project support) and an information/knowledge management system for dissemination of information to the environment

Maintains an inventory of technology projects and programs for the company and assigns resources

Offers support to Project and Program Managers around the definition, planning, directing, coordinating activities, and general project environment

Consults with management and reviews project proposals to determine goals, project scope, planning, assess risk, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and resource allotment

Ensures all project documentation is timely, complete, accurate, and actionable

Provides leadership, training, and coaching to the PMO team

Communicates plans, status, and issues to higher levels of management

Works with functional groups to establish an efficient system and process for managing a multi-project environment

Ensures Portfolio Management processes are documented sufficiently for stakeholders to understand their role and responsibility

Consults with Functional Managers to ensure project and program portfolio effectively maximizes available resources to meet company technology priorities

Responsible for developing, managing, tracking, and reforecasting the operations budget for the PMO team and the capital technology budget for Corporate

COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of general business structure and operations

General knowledge of Electric industry

In-depth IT knowledge

Knowledge and expertise in Project, Program, and Portfolio Management concepts and practices

Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and practices

Knowledge of the organizational strategies, goals, and functions

Knowledge of management principles, practices, and terminology

Knowledge and ability in human relations

Knowledge of adult learning theory in order to facilitate corporation and knowledge transfer

QUALIFICATIONS                   

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with seven to nine years related experience including two years of management experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. 

Master's degree preferred.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Supervises the work of all members participating in the PMO internal and external resources.  Supervises and trains assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.  Responsible for employee development and performance management skills.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:                  

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints

Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style

Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
         
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

COMPUTER SKILLS:   

Knowledge of spreadsheet, and word processing software

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY: 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

$90,707 - $122,454 - $154,202
