Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Document Management group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Procedure Change Execution Consultant.
Responsibilities Include:
The Senior Procedure Change Implementation Consultant provides the overall strategy and implementation plan for implementing the process of re-writing and categorizing procedures at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC). Candidate has a full understanding and ability to apply principles, theories, and techniques, including human performance improvement (HPI) tools. Candidate understands MFC's document hierarchy and creation/revision process to develop expectations, instructions, and requirements for modifying the existing procedure-writing guides. Candidate demonstrates expert-level technical knowledge of nuclear-reactor operations and maintenance. This position is a part time position - (10 hours or less per week).
  • Manages multiple tasks or projects of increasing scope, risk, and complexity. Develops strategic solutions to a variety of complex technical writing/editing problems during migration from the established precedent or policy
  • Is responsible for analyzing documentation requirements for major complex projects and programs, defining scope, and coordinating with technical management and staff to determine depth and detail of documentation work
  • Provides methodical analysis of current technical procedure format to disseminate a customized assessment for producing and implementing a strategy that employs human-factored technical and administrative document development for nuclear operations (collection, analysis, evaluation, interpretation, production, and dissemination)
  • Oversees change process and provides guidance to the Document Management department to ensure HPI tools are incorporated in procedure-writing instructions to promote safety, quality, and productivity
  • Possesses extensive knowledge in procedure use and adherence to establish and document expectations, regulations, and rigor
  • Develops methods to ensure employees use documents consistent to how procedures are written for ensuring HPI methods are in use
  • Provides training, guidance, mentoring, and direction to the MFC Document Management department in the implementation of new procedure
  • Provides strategic oversight and guidance in establishing new processes and practices within the organization
  • Is knowledgeable to provide support to all facilities and labs if requested
  • Oversees and guides preparation to completion of complex writing projects, working with facility personnel, writers, and text processors to ensure professional quality instructional documents
  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex technical writing/editing problems based on established precedent or policy
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 years of operational experience with nuclear reactors (civilian or military) or experience commensurate with duties.
  • Demonstrates highly advanced skills required for performing technical writing/editing duties
  • Demonstrate leadership in a team environment
  • Demonstrates highly effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work well in a team environment and to lead team efforts
  • Demonstrates a general knowledge of business computer workstation technology (e.g., Windows, MS Office Suite, electronic messaging for email)
  • Responsible for adhering to the requirements set out in all procedures and standards that relate to the creation and modification of company documentation
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" / "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship
  • This position is a part time position - (10 hours or less per week)

  • Salary Grade: 210 ($91,032 - $150,156)/220 ($104,688 - $172,668)
