Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Badging and Clearances group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Personnel Security Technical Coordinator! This is an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Functions as Personnel Security Technical Coordinator for a variety of roles including Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI), Facility Clearances (FCL), Key Management Personnel (KMP), Safeguards Information (SGI) and Access Authorizations (clearances).
  • Functions as technical lead on special projects across the Personnel Security department that requires coordination and oversight of the activities and landmarks.
  • Technical oversight of other team members to ensure accuracy and completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Mentor new or junior staff.
  • Develop lab-wide critical initiatives and associated implementation plans, taking action to ensure established landmarks are met.
  • Develop solutions to complex security related problems which require use of ingenuity and innovation, and work without direction.
  • Provides technical advice and guidance to a variety of customers and collaborators. Provides expert council to managers across the directorate. Ensure processes and documents are developed in accordance with the organization's business objectives.
  • Continually evaluates Personnel Security processes - making suggestions to management for improvement.
  • Develop and implement criteria for self-assessments, conduct self-assessments, measure results, and recommend corrective actions for continued improvement.
  • Provide export council to peers, co-workers, and Safeguards and Security.
  • Apply established subject matter expertise, assist management Personnel Security management with various performance assurance activities, including programmatic self-assessments.
  • Assist in developing performance assurance processes and tools that assist in tracking and trending. Conduct assurance activities, as appropriate, to monitor compliance with requirements, as well as the overall health of BEA with regards to Personnel Security.
  • Act as SGI Security Coordinator. This involves acting as a Liaison between BEA Programs that require SGI Access, DOE Personnel Security, and the NRC. This will also involve the leading the FSV Guard Force badging and clearance processes including SGI Access.
  • Must be familiar with and follow, all relevant health and safety requirements.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Level 2: BS degree and 2 years of experience, or MS degree and 1 year of experience, or 10 years of related experience.
  • Level 3: BS degree and 5 years of experience, or MS degree and 3 year of experience, or 13 years of related experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Understanding various levels of government requirements for access authorizations (clearances)
  • Knowledge of physical security directives and access controls.
  • Display the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills both written and oral.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of management both internal and external to the laboratory.
  • Must be able to work independently, be a self-starter and exercise good judgment in decision making authorities.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in security requirements for the Department of Energy or similar government agencies

  • Salary Grade 180 ($60,984 - $97,584) / Salary Grade 190 ($68,820 - $113,644)
