Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Nuclear Safety and Assurance group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Nuclear Safety Analyst.
Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Research and Education Campus with every other Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
  • Support completion of nuclear facility documented safety analyses (DSA) and technical safety requirements (TSR) updates, revisions, or creation.
  • Collaborate with support organizations and ensures DSA and TSR projects are completed and submitted to the Department of Energy (DOE) for approval on schedule.
  • Identify DSA commitments and derives TSR to ensure hazardous and radioactive material releases are prevented or mitigated. Analyst will ensure preparation of DSA and TSR ensuring revisions accurately reflect the facility configuration and establish the necessary controls. Support nuclear facility operation which includes review of procedures, operational events, and facility modifications and support DSA and TSR implementation.
  • Implement unreviewed safety question (USQ) process for proposed facility and procedure changes and new information and develops interim operating restriction, develop and implement USQ resolution plans.
  • Develop proficiency in the use of analytical tools.
  • Assist in establishing objectives, set priorities and advise management of nuclear safety issues. Develop and maintain effective collaboration with plant systems and experiments engineers, facility operations, supporting organization, company Facility Safety Engineering organization, subcontractor personnel, and DOE oversight personnel.
  • Provide support to the Nuclear Safety Program, which include requirements management, identifying and implementing improvements to current procedures and processes, performing programmatic assessments, and conducting lab-wide training associated with nuclear safety requirements.
  • Establish interface agreements with other organizations, track and report status, and ensure projects meet schedule commitments.
  • Conduct facility hazard identification, assessment, and accident analyses and classification. Ensure proper identification and analyses are adequately documented.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • BS degree in Physics, Health Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering preferred plus 2 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and 1 year of experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Requirements:
  • A broad range of analytical methods used in developing safety analyses and risk assessments and knowledge of DOE or of Nuclear Regulatory Commission nuclear safety and USQ guides and standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
