The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a well-qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate in nuclear science and engineering or comparable discipline for the Radiochemistry and Nuclear Measurements Department. This postdoctoral researcher will focus on leading-edge research and development for radiation detection systems, reactor dosimetry, nuclear fuel cycle analysis, and nuclear forensics. The position requires in-depth knowledge of computational and experimental reactor physics, radiation detector systems. Experience with established and well-validated analysis tools such as MCNP, STAYSL, and SCALE.
The candidate is expected to be a strong asset to our interdisciplinary R&D team and work effectively both alone and as a team member. The candidate must be self-motivated but also take direction from other team members and peers.
The position entails writing scientific manuscripts for journal publication, and presentation of research results at national and international conferences and meetings.

Qualifications:

• PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
• PhD in Nuclear Engineering or comparable disciplines
• Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills in English
DESIRED QUALIFICIATIONS
• Gamma-ray spectroscopy experience
• Hands-on experience with radioactive sources
• Basics knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle and recycling technologies-- including pyroprocessing
  • Salary Grade: $90,900.00 annually
