Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Used Fuel Management group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Nuclear Analyst.
Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Research Education Campus with every other Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
The position requires understanding of tools for performing computer analysis of nuclear fuel (criticality, dose rate/shielding, or thermal analysis). In addition, an understanding of spent nuclear fuel facilities (e.g., independent spent fuel storage installations, spent fuel pools, canister/cask handling procedures), packages (e.g., storage, transportation), and technologies (e.g., canister and cask design system design, canister and cask closure options, drying technologies, repair/mitigation alternatives) and/or advanced fuel types (e.g., TRISO, metallic, molten salt) is highly desirable.
The individual will be expected to contribute expertise to a broad range of advanced nuclear reactor and or spent nuclear fuel related projects, including but not limited to: DOE-NE's Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition program, DOE-EM's Technology Development activities, and industry/vendor collaborations. The selected candidate will publish work in various customer-required reports as well as peer-reviewed journal publications.
In addition, involvement in the preparation, peer review, and delivery of program plans, oral presentations, and other activities related to INL spent fuel programs and projects will be expected. Expected to work effectively both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Must take direction from other team members and peers and provide input in a constructive manner, even under pressures and tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • MS in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Civil Engineering, Physics or related discipline; or BS in same plus 0.5-3+ years relevant experience or equivalent

  • Salary Grade PR0100/200 ($81,288 - $134,100) - PR0200/210 ($93,492 - $154,212)
