The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a well-qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate in Neutron Systems Development or comparable field for the Infrastructure Security Department. This postdoctoral researcher will collaborate internationally through INL and IAEA for continued development of research reactor capabilities. This team works a hybrid 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) with every Friday off.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide assistance with developing new capabilities associated with use of the MFC Research Reactor. These capabilities include:
  • Neutron Imaging
  • Neutron Diffraction
  • In-Pile irradiation capabilities
  • Neutron Radiography
  • Neutron Beam manipulation (i.e., monochromators, filters, collimation and optics)
Be a strong asset to the interdisciplinary R&D team and work effectively both alone and as a team member.
Be self-motivated but also take direction from other team members and peers.
Write scientific manuscripts for journal publication, and presentation of research results at national and international conferences and meetings.
Minimum Requirements:
  • PhD in Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering or Physics based graduate level program
  • PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
  • Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills in English

  • Programming Capabilities
  • McStas
  • MCNP.
  • C/C++.
  • Maple.
  • Latex.
  • Fortran
  • Multi-Lingual capabilities
  • History of MCNP simulations of post-irradiation fuels
Job Information
  • Salary Grade: 90,900.00
