The IT Markets Infrastructure provides a solid foundation for the company's markets operations. The team is currently growing to meet the unique challenges that the green energy transformation is placing on our market operations.

The team seeks a Network Engineer to support and expand our energy market network deployments. We need individuals who are passionate about technology and use their knowledge and creativity to solve interesting technical challenges. This position works with a multi-disciplinary team of experienced and dedicated engineers to maintain and administer the company's software-defined networks and multi-site physical network deployments. This role will be crucial in accomplishing key strategic IT improvement projects.

The primary duties will include planning and executing network improvements and technology rollouts. In addition, this role is responsible for the operational maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems. In addition, you will be performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary.

Position Details:

• Hybrid work model: two days on-site, three remote days per week

• 40 hours/week, flexible work schedule Monday-Friday

• Report directly to the Supervisor of Markets Infrastructure Support

• Full-time position with benefits

How you will make an impact:

As a member of the Markets Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for providing the region's wholesale electricity market operations with modern and performant IT solutions. In addition, your team is responsible for on-premise networking, storage, compute, and private cloud deployments. Our infrastructure resides in multiple geographically diverse data centers and on public cloud solutions in AWS.

Your skills will assist the markets infrastructure team by participating in the design and deployment of network technologies. Your contribution will enable the rapid change in market operations required by the clean energy transition of New England.

Daily, you will:
  • Participate in PMO projects as a team member to design, implement and test key IT initiatives
  • Configure, document, and maintain ISO New England's network deployments across multiple regions and data centers
  • Manage ACL changes through service desk and change management workflows
  • Utilize IT Asset Workflow to perform network adds/changes/retirements
  • Manage network access via account adds/changes/removals utilizing the Identity Access Management system
  • Initial handling service desk tickets and escalating issues as needed
  • Perform network troubleshooting and triage of emerging network issues
What we are looking for:
  • A bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, hardware, and logical concepts.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Ability to learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and the organization.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Network security experience.
Desired not required
  • One or more relevant certifications such as CCNA or VCP - Network Virtualization
  • Demonstrated experience working with Internal/External BGP enterprise deployments
  • Demonstrated experience deploying enterprise-scale Cisco networks
  • Experience operational NSX design, deployment, and management utilizing VMware technologies
  • Experience working with wavelength-division multiplexing technologies
  • Experience with integrating Cisco UCS into core enterprise networks
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure configuration management using Terraform Enterprise and Ansible Tower
  • Understanding of IPv6 concepts and methods of deployment
  • Experience with NGFW design, deployment, and management
